Walensee

 
Pour ce qui est probablement la dernière randonnée de cette saison, j'ai choisi le Walensee dans le canton de Saint-Gall. Le seul endroit pas trop loin où la météo promettait un rayon de soleil. Bon, j'ai eu trop besoin des lunettes de soleil...

For what is probably the last hike this season, I chose the Walensee in canton Sankt-Gallen. It was the only place not too far away where forecasts were ok. Still, sun glasses happened to be useless...

Route

Je suis parti de Walenstadt mais c'était une erreur, l'idéal était Walenstadtberg (bus/voiture). Le chemin entre les deux est inintéressant. Je pensais faire une grande boucle mais la météo bof et un peu de fatigue m'ont ramené à la raison. J'ai tenté un raccourci en vain et suis revenu en arrière.

I started at Walenstadt but it was a mistake, should have been Walenstadtberg (bus/car) as the hike between was boring. I planned a big loop but I changed my mind (was tired and weather was average). I tried a shortcut in vain so I came back on same track.

La star local c'est la chaîne des Churfirsten, qui délimite abruptement le coté nord du Walensee. Un chemin passe entre les premières falaises avant d'arriver au pied de ces colosses.

The local star is the Churfisten chain, sharp border to the north of Walensee. A trail goes between the first cliff and then goes along the foot of these giants.

Finalement cet endroit n'est pas peut-être le meilleur pour admirer les Churfirsten (on manque de recul). Ce n'est pas vraiment non plus le meilleur pour admirer le magnifique Walensee dans toute sa longueur.

Maybe this is not the best place to see the Churfirsten (not enough perspective). So far it doesn't seem to be the best either to admire the whole Walensee, a quite beautiful one.

Bon, j'étais un peu mauvaise langue, la vue sur le lac devient intéressante. En face, c'est Flums et son domain skiable.

Quasi aucun cols accessibles à pieds pour rejoindre l'Appenzell derrière.

Conclusion

Sans soleil c'est gâché et j'ai perdu mon temps à partir de Walenstadt. Dommage ce lac et ces Churfirsten sont superbes. L'an prochain je retente un truc dans ce coin. En attendant, ce fut une sacré saison, malgré le printemps pourri, pleine de randonnées mémorables. Je vais reposer un peu le corps maintenant et attendre tranquillement la neige :-).

Slight waste without sun and I wasted time starting from Walenstadt. Too bad, the lake and these Churfirsten are beautiful. Next year, I'll plan better. Overall, it was a memorable hiking season, despite the crappy spring, full with amazing hikes. I'm gonna rest a bit now and wait for the snow :-) !
