Ovronnaz

Durant l'été 2011, on a passé deux semaines en famille à Ovronnaz (1300 m), dans le Bas-Valais. Un joli coin Ovronnaz, exposition sud, supers thermes, plein de belles ballades et des vues au loin. Voici un petit échantillon.

In 2011, the family spent two weeks in Ovronnaz (1305 m) in Bas-Valais. A cool place Ovronnaz, exposed to south, with thermal bads and many hikes with great views. Here's a preview.

Route

9 km, +900 m, -300 m, 3.30 h.

Depuis Ovronnaz, avec Alice, on a commencé à grimper depuis le pied du téléphérique Jorasse. On a suivi Grande Garde (2145 m) puis Jorasse, retour en téléphérique.

From Ovronnaz, Alice and I started to climb from the bottom of cable-car Jorasse. We followed Grande garde (2145 m) and then upper station of cable-car.

Après une montée assez raide dans la forêt, on surplombe vite Ovronnaz. Voyez-vous les thermes ?

After a steep walk through the forest, we soon got a view over Ovronnaz. Do you see the thermal bads? 

Quelques nuages traînent encore mais on va bientôt passer au-dessus.

Un berger sympa nous a parlé de sa vie sur l'alpage. Plus de stress qu'il n'y parait.

We had a nice discussion with a cool shepherd, talked about his life on the pasture. More stressfull than it seems, said he.

Bon cela dit, l'environnement de travail reste correct. Vue imprenable sur le Weisshorn (4506 m), pour commencer.

Ok, he can't really complain about the work environment. Unrestricted views over Weisshorn (4506 m), for a start.

Quelques passages techniques.

It got really technical sometimes.

Arrivés à Grande Garde, vue sur les massifs du Grand Combin et du Mont Blanc. En bas c'est Martigny, départ du col de la Forclaz et passage obligé pour rejoindre Chamonix depuis le Valais.

We made it to the top, Grande Garde. Nice views on the Grand Combin and Mont Blanc ranges. Down there that's Martigny. The Forclaz pass, linking with Chamonix, starts there.

Le massif du Grand Muveran (3051 m) est imposant. C'est le début de l'une des principales dorsales alpines, le Berner Oberland (Diablerets, Wildhorn, Wildstrubel, Blümlisalp, Jungfrau, Finsteraarhorn et j'en passe).

The Grand Muveran (3051) range is quite impressive. There starts one of the main ridge of Alps, the Berner Oberland (Diablerets, Wildhorn, Wildstrubel, Blümlisalp, Jungfrau, Finsteraarhorn to name a few). 

Paisible. Un parfum de la Suisse mythologique.

Peaceful. A flavor of mythological Switzerland.

Après Grand Garde, une belle crête démarre. Je me rappelle que la flore était remarquable.

After Grande Garde starts a nice little ridge. I remember many lovely flowers.

Petite descente vers Petit Pré. Un drapeau suisse, histoire de clarifier les choses.

Small downhill towards Petit-Pré. A Swiss flag states the obvious.

Arrivés au téléphérique, belle vue sur la vallée du Rhône et Ovronnaz. Paradis des randonneurs et mangeurs d’abricots.

Made it to the cable-car, beautiful view over the Rhone valley and Ovronnaz. Paradise for hikers and apricots eaters.

Très bon souvenirs. Je l'ai refaite quelques jours après avec mon père, dans les nuages si je me rappelle bien. Un coin super en tout cas. L'après-midi les thermes tendent les bras aux randonneurs fatigués. Vive le Valais.

Lots of nice memories. I did that hike again a few days later with my dad, in the clouds this time. A great place anyway. After the hike, the thermal bads are definitely the place to be. I love Valais !
