Vers fin janvier, Arnaud et moi avons grimpé à ski le Rossstock (2461 m), joli sommet des alpes uranaises.
Near end of January, Arnaud and I did a ski tour up the Rossstock (2461 m), a pretty summit in the Uranese alps. ________________________
Garés au téléphérique de Chäppeliberg au fond de la Riemenstaldental, à 1190 mètres. De là direction la Lidernenhütte puis tout droit vers le Rossstock. Assez facile à trouver. Le passage en forêt entre le parking et la cabane s'est avéré un peu superflu.
Parked at the cable car station in Chäppeliberg (1190 m), at the end of the Riemenstaldental. From there, ski up to Lidernenhütte and straight up to Rossstock. Pretty easy to find. The forest part between the parking and the hut was not necessary.

On sort de la forêt, la neige s'améliore légèrement.
Out of the forest, snow is getting better.
On s'approche de la bergstation. Très joli décor. En bas l'Urnersee et Seelisberg, puis le reste du lac des Quatre-Cantons, le Bürgenstock, Lucerne, le plateau suisse et enfin le Jura.
Getting close to the bergstation. Very nice views. Down there, Urnersee and Seelisberg, then the rest of lake Lucerne, the Bürgenstock, Lucerne, the Swiss plateau and eventually the Jura.
L'objectif se découvre enfin. C'est la pointe à droite. C'est tracé un peu partout, impossible de se perdre. C'est un sommet très populaire car peu exposé aux avalanches. Nous sommes en semaine, clairement le week-end dernier des dizaines de skieurs sont montés là haut.
Now we can see our target, that peak on the right hand side. There are ski tracks everywhere, you cannot get lost. It's a popular tour, with limited exposition to avalanches. Today is a week day and clearly dozens of skiers went up there last weekend.

Après la pause déjeuner, on continue. Il nous reste 300 mètres. On se dirige vers le début de la crête.
After lunch break, we resume the climb with 300 meters left. We head to the start of that ridge.
A l'est, le Chaiserstock, superbe sommet assez technique grimpé avec Alice en 2013. Derrière, les Glärnisch.

On arrive à la crête. C'est le seul passage délicat du tour, celui qui justifie la cotation PD-. C'est un petit peu exposé et pentu. Ce jour on était tranquille mais c'est propice à des petites avalanches ici. Bref, on déchausse et on fait les 50 derniers mètres à pieds.
Now at the ridge. It's the only serious part of the tour, the one that justifies the PD- quotation. It's a little exposed and steep. That day was ok but small avalanches can occur there. So, skis off and we walked the last 50 meters.

La vue est vraiment sympa la haut. Au sud ouest, la Reusstal et Altdorf, le pays de Guillaume Tell.
View is really nice here. South west, we see Reusstal and Altdorf, Willam Tell's land.
A l'est, Fulen (2490m) et les hauteurs entre Schächental et Muotathal.
East, Fulen (2490 m) and the heights between Schächental et Muotathal.
L'heure tourne, on peut pas rester trop longtemps.
Clock is ticking, can't stay there too long.
700 mètres de descente vers la bergstation du téléphérique. La neige n'est pas super mais c'est skiable.

Après 1280 mètres de montée en ski et 600 de descente, on commence tout les deux à fatiguer !

Nous voila à la bergstation, déjà dans l'ombre. Le Rossstock, lui, reste illuminé. C'est beau non ?

Arnaud réussi à appeler la vallée, on descend en cabine. Je profite de l'ambiance jusqu'au bout.

Vraiment une belle course, facile, sans trop de risques et une belle ambiance là haut. La seule erreur: la gourmandise, on aurait très bien pu prendre le téléphérique à la montée pour s'éviter 500 mètres...
Very nice tour, easy and safe with a pretty great atmosphere up there. Only one mistake: greed, we should have taken the cable car for the way up, saving 500 meters...
