Gulderstock

Samedi, sortie ski randonnée avec le Club Alpin vers le Gulderstock, dans le canton de Glarus. Le sommet n'était pas vraiment en condition (neige soufflée) donc on s'est rabattus sur une antécime avant de redescendre dans la vallée.

Last Saturday it was ski touring with Club Alpin, up to Gulderstock in canton Glarus. Conditions were not great (snow was blown), so we settled down for a sub-peak before skiing down to the valley.

Depuis Matt, dans la Sernftal, petit téléphérique vers Wissenberg (1260 m). Environ 3 heures pour l'antécime (2260 m), une heure de descente vers Engi.

From Matt, in the Sernftal, small gondola up to Wissenberg (1260 m). Around 3 hours for the sub-peak (2260 m), one hour down to Engi.




Wissenberg, 1260 mètres. C'est un drôle d'hiver: quasiment pas de neige en février ! Au fond, le Gulderstock  (2511 m).

Au moins c'est une belle matinée. En bas, la Sernftal. Au fond, le Bündner Vorab (3028 m). Derrière c'est Laax, dans le canton des Grisons.

Droit vers le Gulderstock. L'antécime est sur la gauche.

Petit passage en forêt. Trinh tente de garder les pieds au sec.

Belle vue sur la vallée. On la continuant, on tombe sur le Richetlipass, qui ramène vers Linthal et la vallée principale de Glarus.

Nice view over the valley. If you follow it, you end up at Richetlipass, connecting with Linthal and the main Glarus valley.

J'aime ces passages en forêt.

I really like wandering in the forest.

Passé la forêt, on débouche sur un paysage sympathique. Le Gulderstock et sa crête. On va suivre la trace sur la gauche et monter la crête.

We came through the forest and are now facing a pretty cool landscape, the Gulderstock and its ridge. We'll follow the track on the left side, going up the ridge.

Derrière, le mauvais temps arrive. Au fond, vers l'ouest, l’impressionnant Glärnisch.

Behind, the bad weather is about to hit us. On the background, to the west, the impressive Glärnisch.

La crête déverse un peu mais avec les couteaux c'est sans problème. Le vent souffle fort cela dit.

Pretty steep and narrow but with the ski crampons it's no problem. The wind blows hard though.

Un peu plus haut, on devra se battre un peu dans les rochers pour passer. Tient, on voit un bout de l'Ortstock, une vieille connaissance.

Above, we'll have to fight a bit to get through some rocks. Hey, I can see my good old Ortstock.

Passé l'antécime avec un vent à décorner les boeufs, on longe le niveau. La descente c'est maintenant ! Je range l'appareil.

Passed the sub-peak, with a strong wind, we followed the slope. Now it's time to ski down ! Putting the camera away.

Une belle aventure. Neige pas toujours évidente et météo se dégradant en altitude mais belles vues et quelques frissons :-). Bonne ambiance. Merci aux cafistes !

A nice adventure. Snow wasn't always easy and the weather was just getting worse and worse in altitude. Beautiful views though and some adrenalin :-). Nice atmosphere overall, thanks to the participants !
