Theodulpass

Dernier jour de mon trip au Cervin. Après la traversée d'hier, Sébastien et moi revenons tranquillou à Zermatt, du refuge Oriondé en passant par le col Théodule. Randonnée à vache puis glaciaire très facile.

Last day of the Matterhorn trip. After the traverse yesterday, Sebastien and I are going back to Zermatt, from Oriondé hut up the Theodul pass. Easy hike then easy glacier hike.

D'Oriondé à Plan-Maison, téléphériques pour Testa Grigia, descente à Trockener Steg sur glacier et téléphérique pour Zermatt. Aucune difficulté technique.




Beaucoup aimé ce refuge/hôtel du Duc des Abruzzes (= Oriondé). On a fait une "grasse mat", on quitte le refuge à 8h :-)

I really like that Oriondé hut. It's more a hotel to be honnest. We slept late and left the hut around 8am :-)

Le val d'Aoste va se réveiller tout doucement.

Plus très loin de Plan-Maison (2540 m). J'ai mis un petit point rouge pour indiquer le refuge Oriondé.

We are not far from Plan-Maison now (2540 m). I put a little red dot to show you the Oriondé hut.

On a pris les remontées mécaniques et nous voila sur le domaine skiable d'été, sous le Petit Cervin. Y a quelques fanatiques. La neige m'a pas l'air super...

We took the cable cars and are facing now the summer ski domain, below the Klein Matterhorn. A few enthusiasts are enjoying the snow, which doesn't look great to me...

Encore une vue sympa sur tout le parcours d'hier, l'arête du Hörnli à droite et du Lion à gauche.

Chemin sur glacier tracé et damné. Du coup on y va sans corde.

The path on the glacier is prepared. We didn't use the rope.

Devant nous, 3 jolis 4000: Obergabelhorn, Zinalrothorn et Weisshorn.

Quasi arrivé à Trockener Steg. Il nous reste un long téléphérique pour Zermatt, un bus, un train, et beaucoup de voiture (dont un tunnel avec train). Dommage que ça soit si loin.

Almost arrived at Trockener Steg. I still have a long cable to Zermatt, a bus, a train, lots of driving (including a tunnel with a train). Too bad it's so far away.

Solide week-end. Pour qui veux faire la traversée Hörnli/Lion c'est le bon plan finalement. Merci à Seb de m'avoir monté là haut et descendu en vie ! Le Cervin, c'est fait. Pas la plus belle escalade, ni le refuge le plus agréable (coté suisse) ou l'ambiance agréable. Mais j'en termine avec l'une des montagnes les plus esthétiques qui soit.

Solid week-end. If you want to do the Hörnli/Lion traverse, it's a nice plan in fact. Thanks to Seb who brought me up there and back down again, alive. I'm done with the Matterhorn. Not the nicest climbling or the most pleasant hut (swiss side) or the best atmosphere. On the plus side, I climbed one the most esthetic mountains that there is.
