Lungernsee

Au programme de ce dimanche : une jolie crête au-dessus du lac de Lungern, dans le canton d'Obwald, en Suisse centrale. Superbe région et météo radieuse, entre automne et hiver. Ça n'a pas été facile de faire les choix dans les photos... On y va ?

On the agenda for this Sunday : a nice ridge above lake Lungern, in canton Obwalden, Central Switzerland. Lovely area and sunny weather, between autumn and winter. It wasn't easy to choose the pics today... Ok, shall we ?

Je me suis garé à Kaiserstuhl. Montée vers Brunnenmad puis sur la crête 'Höhgrat'. Avant Güpfi, je suis redescendu vers le lac. Pas mal de variantes mais vue la neige il fallait rester calme.

Parked in Kaiserstuhl. Up to Brunnenmad and Höhgrat. Before Güpfi, I went down to the lake. Lot's of other possibilities but considering the snow, I had to be careful.





Départ vers 9 heures du mat. Belle lumière, les nuages ne m'inquiètent pas, ils vont disparaître bientôt.

Start at 9am. Nice light. I'm not worried by these clouds, they will fade away soon.

The sun shines!

Après un moment en forêt, la vue se dégage. En face c'est la région du col Glaubenbielen, qui connecte Giswil et Sörenberg.

Passed the forest, the view gets nicer. Ahead that's the Glaubenbielen pass area, it connects Giswil and Sörenberg.

Au nord, le Stanserhorn, grimpé il y a quelques années déjà.

To the north, the Stanserhorn, climbed a few years ago.

Il n'est pas tout seul ce Stanserhorn, le Pilatus n'est pas bien loin. En bas, c'est le lac de Sarnen.

That Stanserhorn isn't alone, le Pilatus isn't far away. Down there, that's lake Sarnen.

Il est tombé pas mal de neige cette semaine. La limite aujourd’hui était vers 1400, plutôt bas pour une mi-octobre... C'est toujours un peu l'aventure du coup, les marques au sol ne se voient plus !

The Alps got lots of snow last week. Today's limit was around 1400m, quite low for mid-October... As a result, you usualy get some adventures since you cannot see the trail markers anymore!

Et évidemment j'ai fini par perdre la trace... Je me dit que je finirais bien par la retrouver une fois arrivé sur la crête. Plus facile à dire qu'à faire. Je m'envoie 350 mètres de montée hors-piste hyper raide dans un environnement légèrement hostile et glissant :-).

And of course, I lost the trail... I thought I would cross it again once on the ridge up there. Easier said than done though... Had to do a 350 meters off-piste super steep climb, in a slighlty hostile and slippery environment :-).

Alors que je commençais à me poser des questions, une marque ! Vous la voyez ? Pfiou...

I was about to question my decision when I saw a marker. Can you see it ? Phew...




J'ai beau être sur la trace, c'est pas évident. Y a bien 30 centimètres là. Je met les guêtres...

Even back on track it's still tough. It's one foot deep here. I put on the gaiters...

Neige précoce.

Au sud-est, la vue s'ouvre sur la vallée, la Klein Melchtal. Au col, on devine des remontées du domaine skiable de Meiringen.

Looking south-east, we have now a view on the valley below, the Klein Melchtal. Do you see the cable-cars near the pass, they belong to the Meiringen ski domain.

Plein est. Derrière c'est Melchsee-Frutt. Tout au fond on devine le Titlis.

La vue vers l'ouest commence à revenir aussi. L'Oberland bernois ! Belle neige hein ? Sympa d'ouvrir là dedans...

There's now a view on the west side too. The Bernese Oberland ! Nice snow isn't it ? Pretty cool to walk on that.

Au nord. En dessous, la crête empruntée et le lac de Sarnen. On voit bien la crête entre le col du Glaubenberg et le Pilatus, sujet d'une rando cette année. Au fond à droite, on devine le lac des Quatre-Cantons et même un bout du lac de Zug.

To the north. Down there is the ridge I'm taking and then lake Sarnen. Also the long ridge between the Glaubenberg pass and Pilatus, which I took earlier this year. On the upper right hand corner, you see lake Lucerne and even lake Zug.

Au sud, la fin de la Klein Melchtal. Le joli sommet à droite c'est le Ritzlihorn (3282 m).

Back to south, the end of the Klein Melchtal. The nice summit to the right is the Ritzlihorn (3282 m).

Et me voila sur le sommet de la crête, à environ 1900 mètres. Vue à couper le souffle sur l'Oberland.

Ça vaut bien un panorama. Le magnifique lac de Lungern en bas et le col du Brünig qui amène dans l'Oberland. Sans cette neige, j'aurais surement fait un rapide détour au sommet sur la gauche (Güpfi, 2042 m)...

It's worth a panorama. Down there, the gorgeous lake Lungern and Brünigpass, which brings you into the Oberland. Without the snow, I'd have probably done a quick detour on that mountain to the left (Güpfi, 2042 m)...

C'est triste mais il faut bien descendre... Me revoilà dans la forêt, sous la pluie de neige fondue.

Really sad but it's time to go down... I'm back in the forest, soaked by the melted snow falling.

J'attends toujours ces randonnées d'octobre avec impatience. Les couleurs sont sympathiques et la température clémente.

I'm always looking forward to these October hikes. Colors are nice and temperature milder.

Ça sent bon la Suisse ici.

La descente finale dans la forêt donne quelques superbes points de vue sur le Lungernsee.

Final downhill through the forest gave some nice points of view over the Lungernsee.

Après 6 heures d'efforts, j'ai bouclé la boucle. Ce lac est vraiment pas mal...

After 6 hours of effort, the loop is looped. This lake is really not bad...

J'ai eu du mal à descendre ! La vue depuis cette crête a dépassé mes espérances. Pas croisé une âme en 6 heures... L'hiver vient.

I didn't want to come down ! The view from that ridge was beyond my expectations. I did not see anyone in 6 hours... Winter is coming !
