Stotzigen Firsten

Une belle éclaircie, deux potes, un sommet facile et de la neige parfaite, c'était ma journée hier au Stotzigen Firsten, au dessus de Realp. Tout bon !

A sunny spell, two friends, an easy summit with perfect snow, that was my day yesterday up to Stotzigen Firsten, above Realp. All good!

Sommet facile et à priori sans danger, y compris par fort risque d'avalanche. Une belle croupe exposée nord dans un coin à neige souvent ensoleillé, par étonnant que ça soit un grand classique de Suisse.

Easy and super safe summit, even with high avalanche risk. A gentle round ridge, north exposed, in a sunny and snowy spot. No wonder it's a classic in Switzerland.

Départ de Realp. Les Stotzigen sont vers la droite. Au fond, c'est la région du Rottälihorn, fait avec Jacques il y a seulement quelques semaines. Le début est commun. Je connaissais pas ce coin avant, j'aime beaucoup maintenant.

Start in Realp. The Stotzigen are above and further right. On the background, that's the Rottälihorn area, done with Jacques just a few weeks ago. The beginning is the same. I didn't know that place before, really like it now.

Vers 1600 mètres, on prends vers la droite. Y a même un panneau jaune pour le sentier d'été.

Near 1600 meters, turned right. There's even a yellow sign for the summer trail.

Direction la croupe, pentes gentilles.

Heading to the ridge, easy slopes.

Vers 2350 mètres, un choix. On monte à gauche, on descendra à droite.

Near 2350 meters, a choice. We went up to the left, came down the right side.

Je connaissais pas le coin, je pensais que ce truc en face était le sommet.

I didn't know this summit, I thought above was the end.

Et bah non! Il en reste un bout. On fait la pause lunch ici.

Well, nope. There's still more. Lunch break though.

Realp en bas, Andermatt plus loin. A droite de Realp, le Winterhorn, super sommet à faire en traversée entre Hospental et Realp.

Allez, y a plus grand chose à faire. C'est bien joli.

C'mon, not much more. And it's pretty.

Sommet, 2750 m !

On est gâté par une super neige. Descente dans la bonne humeur.

Gifted, spoiled even, with great snow. Lot's of fun.

On cherche les spots au nord, il fait chaud, ça croûte coté sud. En face tout à droite, Pizzo Lucendro.

Looking for the north sides, it's warm and getting crusty on south sides. Ahead, to the very right , Pizzo Lucendro.

Jusqu'au bout, super neige. Ma splitboard me manque. Elle me manque rarement à la montée cela dit :-). Pentes parfaites, ni trop ni trop peu.

Great snow all the way down. I miss my splitboard. Note that I only miss it downhill, never going up :-). Perfect slopes angle.

Fin de la descente. Les Stotzigen en haut tout à droite, on devine les corniches sommitales.

Un sommet de plus. Faut que je continue à explorer ce super coin. Top hiver pour le moment !

One more in the bank. I need to keep exploring this corner, it's great. Awesome winter so far!
