Kiental - Gspaltenhornhütte

En juillet 2012 avec Alice on s'est fait une randonnée de 3 jours dans l'Oberland bernois. La première journée nous a mené de Kiental au refuge de la Gspaltenhornhütte. Charmant nom d'ailleurs, le "refuge du pic brisé". Récit d'une randonnée vraiment belle (oui vraiment !).

In July 2012, Alice and I did a three days hike in the Bernese Oberland. The first day was between Kiental and the Gspaltenhornhütte. Charming name actually, "the Shattered Peak hut". This is the report of a truely gorgeous hike (yes, truely).

15 km, +1600m, 6 h.

Train jusqu'à Kiental. Suivre Griesalp puis Gspaltenhornhütte.

Le départ de Kiental. C'est le nom du village mais aussi de cette superbe vallée, l'une des plus belles de l'Oberland. Au fond, les cimes enneigées de la très attirante Blümlisalp (3661 m). On va dormir à son pied ce soir.

It begins in Kiental. It's the name of the village but also the name of the valley, one of the nicest in the Oberland. On the background, the snowy peaks of the very attractive Blümlisalp. We'll sleep at the bottom of this tonight.

Vive l'été. Derrière nous, le Niesen, gardien de la vallée Frutigtal, dont la Kiental est une branche.

En avançant un peu, on tombe sur un bien joli pic, l'Ärmighore (2742 m). De l'autre coté c'est Kandersteg.

Moving on a bit, we pass a pretty nice summit, named Ärmighore (2742 m). On the other side ot it, that'd be Kandersteg.

Superbe sommet, facilement accessible en escalade (5a, topo). Sur ma liste évidemment :-).

Really like that one and it's easily reached climbing (5a, topo). On the todo list obviously :-).

Jolie rivière, répondant au nom étrange de Chiene.  On voit bien au fond à droite le Gspaltenhorn (3436 m), ce fameux pic brisé. Le sommet enneigé ça doit être Bütlasse (3193 m) je pense.

Nice little stream, funning name though, the Chiene (sounds like 'bitch' in French). You can see on the very background the Gspaltenhorn (3436 m), that famous Shattered Peak. The snowy one is probably Bütlasse (3193 m).

La vallée rencontre un premier obstacle, la montée vers Griesalp. Sous mes pieds, un marécage / lac, le Tschingelsee. On est à 1150 mètres d'altitude, le gros de la montée va enfin commencer.

The valley finally gets to a first obstacle, the climb to Griesalp. Under my feet, a swamp / lake, the Tschingelsee. We're now at 1150 meters and the climb is about to start.

La route carrossable la plus pentue de Suisse ! On l'a redescendu en bus 2 jours plus tard, c'est cocasse...

The steepest road suitable for cars in Switzerland. We went down in a bus 2 days after, that was fun...

Avec une pente pareille, évidemment, on trouve d’impressionnantes gorges (Griesschlucht) et chutes d'eau. Très très joli coin, entre forêt et torrent déchaîné.

With a steepness like that, you obviously get impressive gorges (Griesschlucht) and water falls. Very very cool place, between forest and wild waters.

La faune locale vaut aussi le détour ;-).

The local fauna is also worth the detour :-).

L'arrivée sur Griesalp. Nous sommes en gros à la moitié de la journée.

Sans s'attarder trop, on continue vers le sud, vers le refuge. Le soleil tape dur.

No rest, we keep moving south, towards the hut. The sun's hard.

Paysages grandioses. Cette rando amène une belle diversité de décors. La Kiental va se terminer bientôt par un glacier, le Gamichgletscher.

Stunning landscapes. This hike provided a great diversity of scenaries. The Kiental is about to end in a glacier, the Gamichgletscher.

Le chemin parcouru. Griesalp a disparu depuis bien longtemps, pas le Niesen, toujours au fond.

Les sommets de la Blümlisalp sont de plus en plus écrasants. A gauche, un mini col, le Gamichlücke qui permet aux aventuriers de rejoindre une vallée glaciaire, coincée entre les Lauterbrunnental et Gasteretal. L'endroit m'attire pas mal...

The Blümlisalp peaks are getting bigger and bigger. On the left hand side, a tiny pass (Gamichlücke) allows the bold ones to reach an icy valley, lost between Lauterbrunnental and Gasteretal. It's like a magnet.

Toujours pas fatigués, on prends un détour, droit vers le glacier :-).

Batteries still alive. We took a detour, straight towards the glacier :-).

Le chemin passe sur la moraine bien sûr.

The path follows the moraine of course.

C'est pas tout ça, mais on est quand même contents d'avoir enfin le refuge en vue.

All good but happy nonentheless to finally see the hut.

Ça et la bonne bière bonne fraîche qui suit :-). On passera une bonne soirée, la peau du ventre bien tendue, à jouer aux cartes avec des étrangers. Le coté sympa des refuges...

That and the big fresh beer that usually follows :-). We'll have a cool evening, belly ended up full and we played cards with strangers. The bright side of huts...

Randonnée 5 étoiles. Magnifique région préservée, plein de possibilités. Le lendemain, on reprendra la route, direction le col du Sefinenfurgga puis Mürren. Trempéé sera le mot clé.

5 stars hike. Wonderful and preserved area, countless possibilities. The day after, we'll resume the hike, going to Mürren, via the Sefinenfurgga pass. Soaked was the key word.
