Rotsandnollen

Le Rotsandnollen (2700 m) se trouve entre Melchsee-Frutt et Engelberg, en Suisse centrale. Une randonnée à ski facile et peu risquée vous y amène.

Rotsandnollen (2700 m)  is between Melchsee-Frutt and Engelberg, in central Switzerland. An easy and fairly safe ski tour goes up there.

Télécabines depuis Stöckalp (Melchtal) vers Melchsee-Frutt, trace directe vers le sommet puis descente par sa face ouest.

Le Melchsee recouvert de neige. Je skiais là bas y a 10 ans, c'était une petite station familiale assez tranquille. Vue l'affluence ce jour là, c'est visiblement fini.

Melchsee is covered with snow. I was skiing there 10 years ago, that was a small family ski resort. Looking at the crowd, these days are gone.

On longe la crête du Bonistock/Hohmad. Tour très populaire et tracé. J'ai grimpé sur ces falaises à l'automne dernier, très sympa, beau rocher, niveaux agréables pour moi (4 à 6)

Along and below the Bonistock/Hohmad ridge. Quite popular tour. I climbed on these cliffs last autumn, very cool, nice rock and pleasant difficulty for me (4 to 6).

Assez rapidement on aperçoit l'objectif du jour, la belle bosse arrondie à gauche. Beaucoup de plat pour y arriver.

Quickly we spot today's objective, that nice round thing on the left side. Long flat-ish part to get to the bottom.

Finally some slope!

Tannenrotisand (2500 m). 

Les derniers 10 mètres sont assez raides, en devers. Expo sud, neige bien croûtée. J'ai pas mis les couteaux et j'aurais dû. J'ai dû finir à pieds...

The last 10 meters are quite steep and traversing the slope. South exposed, crusty snow. I didn't put the ski crampons on and I should have. I finished walking.

Au sommet, un bel arc blanc nous attends.

Up there a nice fog bow was waiting for us.

Vue plongeante sur Engelberg. Derrière, Rigidalstock et Fürenalp notamment.

C'est parti pour une super et longue descente. Ce coté est un peu plus pentu mais rien de fou. Bonne neige là haut.

Here we go for a cool and long downhill. That side is a bit steeper but nothing crazy. Good snow up there.

Marc nous montre une belle voie d'escalade qu'il a faite.

C'est tracé, heureusement car la descente sur Stöckalp passe à un endroit bien précis. Barres rocheuses autour. En face, le Haupt.

Joli sommet classique rapide qui vaut surtout pour la super descente. Si on fait la montée depuis Stöckalp faut avoir des jambes.

Nice, quick and classic summit. The great downhill is the cherry on the pie really. You need legs if you climb it all the way from Stöckalp.
