Via ferratas Brünnihütte

Au dessus d'Engelberg, dans le canton d'Obwald en Suisse centrale, on trouve quelques via ferratas. Avec Dante, la semaine dernière, on a rayé de notre liste deux d'entre elles. On a enchaîné avec une petite course de rochers. Plein de belles photos du coup.

Above Engelberg, in canton Obwald, central Switzerland, there are several via ferratas. Last week-end, with Dante we stroke two of them off the to-do list. We then did some easy mountaineering. So, lot's of nice pics today.
 

Route

A Engelberg, garé au parking du téléphérique pour la Brünnihütte puis montée en 2 temps via Ristlis. La première via ferrata démarre derrière le refuge (une K3 et une K2, au choix). Après Schonegg, petite marche d'approche pour la deuxième via (K2) qui amène au Rigidalstock. De là, chemin de crête vers le Walenstöcke. Retour par la 2èm via puis sentier vers la Brünnihütte et téléphérique pour Engelberg.

In Engelberg, parked near the Brünnihütte gondola. The first via ferrata starts by the hut (K2 or K3, it's up to you). After Schonegg, short approach walk to get to the second via (K2) going up to Rigidalstock. From there we followed the ridge to Walenstöcke. Way back: down on the 2nd via then trail to Brünnihütte and cable-car down to Engelberg.

Nous voila dans le télésiège qui monte au refuge. Derrière, vue sur la station intermédiaire Ristlis et sur le beau Titlis (3238 m). Je devine le tour à ski fait cet hiver. C'est ma première fois sur le versant sud d'Engelberg, je ne suis pas déçu. Et oui, il fait beau !

Here we are in the chair-lift, on our way to the hut, leaving the middle station Ristlis behind. On the background, the beautiful Titlis (3238 m). I see the ski tour I made this winter. It's my first time on the south side of Engelberg, I'm not disappointed. And yes, the sun shines!

Devant nous, deux des objectifs de la journée. La première via ferrata se situe sur ce rocher, à droite. On voit des gens traverser un pont d'ailleurs. Puis le Rigidalstock et la 2èm via, au fond.

So ahead are two of the objectives of the day. The first via ferrata is on that rock on the right side. You can see people crossing a bridge actually. The second via and Rigidalstock are on the background.

Excités comme des puces, on attaque la première via (Klettersteig en allemand). On devine des grimpeurs déjà au boulot.

Pretty excited, we start the first via (Klettersteig in German). You see people already working.

C'est vertical ! C'est une K3, faisable mais faut se concentrer.

Vertical is it! It's a K3, doable but you need to focus.

Derrière nous, la vue est superbe. Un vrai régal cette via.

On en termine vite avec cette via, c'est trop court ! Maintenant, on a 200/300 mètres de dénivelé à avaler avant d'arriver à la prochaine via. La jolie tour à gauche c'est le Bettlerstock. Voies d'escalade de 4a à 7a. J'ai pris rendez-vous.

Cool via but short one unfortunately. Now we have 200/300 meters ascent to get to the start of the second via. The nice tower on the left side is called Bettlerstock. Climbing routes from 4a to 7a. I took an appointment.

Réunion assez incroyable de parapentes.

Quite an impressive gathering of paragliders.

Mini randonnée mais bien agréable. Au fond on voit l'Oberland qui pointe.

Cette deuxième via ferrata est vraiment facile. Trop facile pour Dante qui prends hors piste.

That second via verrata is pretty easy. Too easy in fact for Dante who went off piste.

Facile ou pas, c'est bien agréable.

Easy or not, it feels pretty good.

 


On voit maintenant une bonne partie de l'Oberland. De gauche à droite: Finsteraarhorn, Lauteraarhorn, Schreckhorn, Wetterhorn et Eiger. La première et la dernière sont sur mon agenda cet été :-).

Arrivée au sommet, Rigidalstock, 2593 mètres.

J'ai enfin compris l'origine de ses super pouvoirs.

Finally I know where his super powers are coming from.

Mon secret à moi c'est le soleil, un peu comme Superman si vous voulez. Je recharge là.

As for my own secret, that's the sun, like Superman in fact. See me recharging.




Bon, après 2 via ferratas, on était loin d'être calmés. Vers le nord, une jolie crête amène au Walenstöcke (2572 m). On tente.

So even after two via ferratas, we were still hungry, starving even. Up north, there's a nice ridge going to Walenstöcke (2572 m). We tried.

Le temps de sortir la corde et c'est parti.

Took the rope, made a few coils and here we go.

Après une bonne heure, le chemin parcouru. Un régal.

After one hour, that's what we did. A treat.




Mais pas assez rapides... Il nous reste au moins une heure aller/retour pour le sommet (neige à gauche). Trop juste pour descendre en téléphérique. On renonce...

But not fast enough.  It'd take more than an hour to reach that snowy summit and come back. We'd miss the cable cars. So we gave up and turned back...

Très bon bilan. On s'est régalés, entraînés avec la corde et avons repérés pas mal de sommets intéressants pour la suite. Comme celui là, Hahnen (2606 m).

Overall a great day. We had lot of fun, trained with the rope and added a few interesting summits to the to-do list. Like that one, Hahnen (2606 m).

La région d'Engelberg fourmille de challenges sympas. A 1 heure et demie de la maison, que rêver de plus ?

Engelberg is full of great challenges. A hour and a half from home, what else could I dream of ?
