Wildhorn

Début octobre, alpinisme facile avec Laurent qui vient prendre sa dose d'adrénaline et de montagnes. Au programme, le Wildhorn, sommet classique entre Oberland bernois et Valais. Randonnée à vache puis glaciaire facile. Vue imprenable... J'étais passé au Wildhorn en ski y a quelques années.

Early October, Laurent came over for his adrenaline and mountains fix. On the agenda, easy mountaineering up to the Wildhorn, a classic summit between Oberland and Valais, with a bit of easy glacier walks. Great views. I skied the Wildhorn a few years ago.

Garé à Iffigenalp, au dessus de Lenk dans la Simmental. Attention, la route a des horaires. Droit vers la Wildhornhütte puis passage sur le Tungelglestcher et Glacier du Téné.

Parked in Iffigenalp, above Lenk in Simmental. Careful, you can only drive it up at certain times. Straight up to Wildhornhütte then walk on Tungelglestcher and Téné glaciers.

9 heures du mat, on démarre à Iffigenalp. Sac assez lourd, j'ai décidé de prendre le matos complet...

On passe la cabane du Wildhorn, retour sur une moraine facile pour arriver au col à gauche.

We passed the Wildhorn hut, back on an easy moraine to get to the pass above, on the left hand side.

Arrivée au glacier. On s'équipe. Franchement il est tellement rilax que je regrette presque d'avoir pris une corde et tout le matos sécu. Crampons et piolet ça aurait bien suffi. Mais on sait jamais :-).

At the glacier, gearing up. Honestly, it's so easy that I regreted to have taken rope and safety gear. Crampons and ice axe would have been enough. But you never know, right ? Better safe than sorry.

On révise le cramponnage sur une portion un peu pentue.

On quitte le premier glacier, passe de l'autre coté de la ligne séparation des eaux (Rhin / Rhône) et on prends pieds sur le deuxième glacier. Entre les deux, du rocher facile cairné.

L'altitude commence à se faire sentir, d'autant qu'on est parti d'Alsace le matin. Heureusement, le sommet n'est plus loin.

Starting to feel the altitude, we left Alsace in the morning. The summit is close now.

Crête sommitale. Rien de méchant mais faut faire un peu attention.

Summit ridge. Nothing difficult but you need to watch your steps.

Le sommet du Wildhorn, 3248 m, offre une super vue. Coté est: Plaine Morte, Eiger/Mönch/Jungfrau et le chéri de Laurent, le Bietschhorn.

Au sud, les alpes valaisannes (Weisshorn/Bishorn, Dent Blanche, Dom etc.). La vallée du Rhône en bas.

South: valaisan alps (Weisshorn/Bishorn, Dent Blanche, Dom etc.). Rhone valley just down there.

Coté ouest, les Diablerets puis Mont Blanc.

On redescend.  La lumière se fait belle. La vue est terrible.

Downhill. Light becomes pretty. Awesome views.

Partie finale du glacier.

On repasse la Wildhornhütte.

Puis l'Iffigsee. On tente un Wildhorn high five !

On y est. On était passé par là avec Laurent quand on était redescendu de Plaine Morte. Rando escarpée, bon souvenirs :-)

We made it. Laurent and I came down the way ahead on our way dow from Plaine Morte. Steep hike, good memories :-)

Super sommet, j'adore. Alpi facile sans prise de tête, vue magnifique, ambiance alpine. Super journée avec Laurent. Faut revenir mecton !!

Great summit, loving it. Easy mountaineering, just pleasure, awesome views and alpine atmosphere. Really cool day with Laurent.
