Hohgant

Dimanche, il me fallait une grosse randonnée pour m’entraîner. J'ai été grimper et faire le tour du Hohgant (2197m), montagne imposante des pré-Alpes de l'Emmental.

Sunday, I needed a long training hike. I went up and around the Hohgant (2197m), a large mountain in the Emmental pre-alps.

Depuis Kemmeriboden, tout droit vers le sommet puis descente à Schangnau en passant le Grünerbergpass. Bus pour Kemmeriboden.

From Kemmeriboden, straight to the summit, then down to Schangnau via Grünerbergpass. Bus to Kemmeriboden.

8h30 à Kemmeriboden. Les nuages s'accrochent sur le Hohgant. C'est pas la journée pour la vue à 200 km mais ça a son charme. Et puis le but c'est mes jambes aujourd'hui, pas le zoom sur l'Eiger.

8.30am in Kemmeriboden. The clouds are clinging on the Hohgant. Ok, it' won't be the clear views over 200 km, but it does have its charm. And the goal is my legs, not the zoom photo over the Eiger.

J'aime vraiment l'Emmental. C'est paisible, harmonieux. Et au milieu coule une rivière, l'Emme, qui donne son nom à la vallée (et accessoirement au fromage).

I really like the Emmental. Peace and harmony. And a river runs through it, the Emme river. Emmental, both region and cheese, takes its name after the river.

Ça sent la vieille route d'alpage :-).

Je dépasse la Hohganhütte.  J'ai encore un vague espoir que les nuages se dissipent.

Montée au col. Croisé presque personne. Une semaine avant, j'étais sur la randonnée autoroute du Säntis, sacré contraste.

Climbing to the pass. I hardly saw anyone. A week before, I was climbing Säntis with hundreds of people around. Strange contrast.

En face, le Furggegütsch, le nom du sommet le plus élevé, à 2197 m. Rien vu d'autre !

Je redescend, remonte et continue la traversée pour arriver au sommet appelé Hohgant, à 2163 mètres celui là. La logique m'échappe mais passons.

Down and up again to traverse to the Hohgant summit, at 2163 m. I don't really get the logic but that's ok.

Le sommet, vu de plus loin. Sans nuages, la vue serait fantastique ici. La Suisse centrale, l'Oberland. Faudra que j'y retourne hélas :-)

Pour quitter la crête, quelques passages rocheux sympas.

Je vais pas tarder à réaliser que je me suis trompé là haut. J'avais prévu de traverser toute la crête (Wysschrüzgrat) avant de basculer coté nord. Ça évite un sacré détour. J'étais perdu dans les nuages et mon GPS faisait une petite pause...

I'll soon realize I made a mistake up there. I intended to traverse the whole ridge (Wysschrüzgrat) before turning north. Avoids a hell of a detour. I was trapped into the clouds and my GPS took a break...

Je peste un peu, ça me rallonge de facile 2 heures en faisant le détour par le Grünerbergpass. Tant pis. Du coup, je me met à courir. L'endroit s'y prête bien, très agréable.

I'm pissed off at myself, it's a 2 hours detour at least, through Grünerbergpass. Oh, well never mind. I'm starting to run, felt nice actually.

Je passe par des endroits bien perdus.

Visiting isolated places.

Du coté du Grünerberpass. Superbe coin naturel là encore, des sentiers vraiment idylliques. J'étais passé par là en VTT y a bien 6, 7 ans tient.

Near Grünerberpass. Another really cool peace of nature, some trully idyllic paths. Was there 6, 7 years with my MTB actually.

A force de courir, je finis par revoir un peu de civilisation. Je change mon plan, j'irai prendre un bus à Schangnau plutôt que de retourner à pied à Kemmeriboden. Ca m'épargne 1h30.

Running will get you to civilization. I changed my plan, I'll take a bus in Schangnau instead walking all the way to Kemmeriboden. That will save 1 hours 30 min.

Et une longue route d'alpage pour finir. Plus trop la force de courir. Je sais juste que j'aurais mon bus à temps, ça suffit bien :-).

Finally a long pasture road. I'm too tired to run now. At least I know I'll catch the bus on time, that's good enough :-)

Pfiou c'était long, mais j'ai largement battu l'horaire standard donc je me plains pas trop... C'est vraiment mignon comme endroit. Par beau temps, ça doit être proche de la perfection pour une randonnée en moyenne montagne...

Pheww that was a long one but I beat up the official time so can't complain. It was such a cute hike. On a shinny day that must be a perfect place to hike...
